N11bn Scam: Ex-Kogi Gov Audu attacks EFCC operative in court

A former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, who is being prosecuted at a Federal Capital Territory High Court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, for his alleged involvement in a contract scam to the tune of eleven billion naira, today threw decorum to the dogs when he ordered his security aide (a police officer) to assault an operative of the EFCC, Haruna Ashade, for daring to take his photograph in court.

Ashade, a member of the EFCC team assigned to cover the proceedings, was carrying out his lawful duties when Audu’s aide descended on him. The sudden realisation that his image might have been captured by the cameraman, incensed Prince Audu.

Nigeria: JAMB Announces New Date For (CBT) Exams (MUST READ)

 

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has now disclosed that the 2015 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations, UTME, will commence next week March 9, across the country.
It would be recalled previously, in a press released by the Board’s public relations officer, Mr Fabian Benjamin,  that the CBT will be on Wednesday, the 4th of March, 2015.
Mr Fabian Benjamin disclosed to Vanguard yesterday that the examination will now start on the 9th of March nationwide.
“All the logistics for the examination have been put in place and the examination will start on March 9 across the 400 centres in the country.” He said.

He further said that the examination will last for 10 days, adding that it will be rounded off on March 21.
“There are going to be breaks during the days, but the exams are going to run for 10 days,” he concluded.

Shocking: Son Of Ex-Chief Justice Of Nigeria Joins Isis

Reports have emerged that the son of Former chief justice of Nigeria Muhammadu Uwais has gone to the Middle East to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) terrorist group.
According to a report by Naij, the son of the 79-year-old Justice Uwais, who served as the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria from 1995 till 2006, is now an active combatant with Isis.
It was learnt that he left Nigeria for Syria with his immediate family to allegedly enlist and fight alongside the Isis terrorists who presently control large territories in Iraq, Syria and Libya.
Justice Uwais, served as the chairman of the committee that reviewed Nigeria’s electoral laws in 2007, that is after his retirement.
He has been informed about his son’s decision although it cannot yet be ascertained if the son had been involved with Nigeria’s home-bred Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram.

Nigerian asylum seeker and award winning gay-rights activist, Aderonke Apata has once again been denied asylum following a position by the UK Home office that she can not be a lesbian after she's been in multiple heterosexual relationships which resulted in the birth of her children. 

46yr old Aderonke, who fled Nigeria to the UK in 2004 after her life was allegedly threatened for being gay, has been in a running battle with the UK Home office for a while now over this.

IGP orders full scale investigation into death of Kano prof. who was killed after being mistaken for Boko Haram leader

The Inspector General of Police has ordered a full scale investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of a leading professor of Agriculture at the Ahmadu Bello University ABU, Prof Ahmed Falaki who was killed in Kano on February 15th following suspicions he was a Boko Haram leader. 

Narrating how his father was killed, one of the sons of the late Professor said his father had set out on a journey in his official car with his younger brother and his driver to Bauchi state on Saturday Feb. 14th to see a relative. As they were returning to Kano, his car developed a flat Tyre in Fala village in Tudun Wada LGA of Kano State. He said according to his father's driver, while fixing their tyre, some armed men riding on a motorcycle accosted them and demanded for the keys to his SUV which he advised his driver to give to them. The armed men sped off with his car. Shortly after, Fala villagers saw the three men and accused them of being Boko Haram members. They said the prof. was their leader and had given the vehicle to their members.

Going Out With A Bang: Pacquiao Might Retire After Mayweather Fight

Manny Pacquiao may plan to end his career on the highest of notes: handing Floyd Mayweather Jr. his only career loss.
“It is coming close. We will announce it,” the 36-year-old told local television network ABS-CBN with a meek smile when asked about retirement.
Pacquiao and Mayweather are set to meet on May 2 in what will be the greatest boxing match in years.
Pacquiao said he agreed to take a smaller cut of the purse just so the fight could push through.
“If we only thought about our pride, there would not be a fight. If we had equal pay, the fight would not have pushed through so for the fight to push through, I agreed to it,” he said.
Tickets for the MGM Grand showpiece sold out 15 minutes after they became available.
